It is a modern-day Gullwing! The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG is a serious supercar. The most distinctive aspect of the SLS’s appearance is, of course, its roof-hinged Gullwing doors, an homage to the iconic 300SL Gullwing. However, the retro-gullwing looks are where the comparison between the two stops. The doors do look spectacular and make accessing the SLS’s cabin easy. The interior is simple and uncluttered with carbon fiber bits and an easy-to-read instrument cluster. Hit the glowing red start button and the AMG-designed 6.2L V8 awakens with an angry growl. The SLS is the first Mercedes to use the new at the time dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. There are four driving modes via the “Drive-Unit” button, ranging from comfortable to super sporty.

As if the SLS didn’t already offer explosive acceleration, this one has been upgraded with the Weistec Engineering Supercharger. It is a fabulous feeling once that whine kicks in. The car was also protected with full vehicle XPEL paint protection film and XR Plus ceramic window film installed here at LUXE Automotive. It is hardwired for a radar which with the additional power you will surely want to consider to keep out of trouble. This 2011 SLS AMG has those iconic doors and a throaty roar, it is a well-balanced beast.
