While most people were waiting for the 1993 car, New Jersey’s Street Legal Performance wasn’t shy to throw Corvette parts at Pontiac’s pony, as well as brakes off a Ferrari F40! Pontiac had teamed up with SLP, a hot rod shop, that did all the right things to make the Firebird spectacular. The SLP Firehawk came powered by a heavily modified 5.7-liter V8 that can run the quarter-mile in 13 seconds at 106mph. That was thanks to having 350 horsepower and 390 ft-lb, provided by the upgraded pistons, intake, exhaust, the six-speed from the C44, and a lightweight aluminum driveshaft. While the tuning and the limited-slip differential has already turned the Firebird into a tail-happy monster, if your craving wasn’t satisfied then an additional $9000 bought you an aluminum hood, a roll cage, and the Brembo brakes straight from the Ferrari F40 parts catalog. It was a miracle the 1992 Pontiac SLP Firehawk was street legal!
